Meet McGee

Just in case you didn't think that Brad and I are strange enough (you can read about our obsession with Jeopardy here), let me introduce you to McGee.

First, here's a little bit of the back story. When we were in Key West, I mentioned to Brad that I would love to see a manatee. We didn't see one while we were there, but while Brad was in Orlando, he brought a stuffed manatee home for me. Isn't that cute?

Somewhere along the way, Brad started to call me "Slow Poke McGee," since I tend to move a little bit slower than he does and take a much longer time to make decisions. And, since manatees tend to move slowly, somehow I became associated with a manatee. So when the manatee joined our little family, it seemed fitting that we name him McGee.

The funny thing about McGee is that he somehow seems to end up in some interesting places. At first I would find him in my closet, or hiding in some clothes. On Sunday, Brad and volunteered at a local 5K in the morning, but were heading to our Sunday School class after the race. We had a few minutes, so we stopped at the grocery store to pick up a couple of things. We were waiting in line when I opened my purse to get my wallet, and guess who was inside? McGee!

Here he is "driving" home from the grocery store.

And just look where I found McGee when I got home from work today...

I think I have sufficiently embarrassed us for today.

Blessings,

Date night, part 1

Now that the holidays are over and we've done some traveling, we're ready to get back into our regular date night routine.

Last night included a trip to Creamery on Main, which you may remember from this date. Get ready for this---we didn't even have ice cream! Crazy, huh? Instead, we went to enjoy their wide variety of sandwiches and burgers. They have a TON of burger options with some really great names. If I hadn't gone for the soup (lobster bisque, yum!), I probably would have picked this one:

NKOTBSB Burger? That's awesome! Brad had the Nittany Lion burger, and other burgers worth mentioning included the Sheldon Cooper and Barney Stinson. Isn't that funny?

We had intentions of going home and watching Bones, but American Idol was on instead. We ended up heading to bed pretty early, so we're hoping finish part 2 of our date night tonight. It looks like some winter weather is headed our way, so we're staying in! Movie on the couch in sweatpants? Sounds good to me!

Have a great weekend!

This is why Brad isn't allowed to go shopping with me...

We went to Target for a Wii Remote. We even had a gift card (thanks Aunt Betse and Uncle Chop).

Somehow Brad managed to end up with this...

A new iPad 2! Merry Christmas (again!). As for me, I ended up with this...

...a new toothbrush. Oh well. When it comes to marriage, what's yours is mine (I'm definitely referring to the iPad. Brad is NOT sharing my toothbrush).

Catch ya later!

Did you know that you can vacuum a toaster?

Neither did I. But apparently, you can.

As demonstrated by my wonderful husband...

Really?

 Yes, really.

Just another night in the Nelson household...

Until next time,

Something Silly

Brad and I have been very fortunate to have spent the last few weekends traveling to see family and friends. Two weekends ago we went to visit my mom and dad, and then headed to State College for the PSU vs. Indiana State game. My little (perhaps I should say younger, he's not very "little") brother is a drummer in the Blue Band, so we got to spend some time with him.

Last weekend we were at the beach with some friends (which you can read about here). This weekend we're not doing any traveling, and enjoyed a pretty low-key Saturday morning. We headed out to a nearby park to see Brad's little sister Lauren play field hockey (she's 5 years old--it was pretty entertaining). We made a stop on the way home at a local bakery to get donuts for an open house at the church we've been attending (more about that later), and on the way back home saw this sign:

I thought it was hilarious! Now we're about to head out to a picnic with Brad's co-workers. How are you spending this wonderful fall-like weekend?

Blessings!
